Highlights Recap

A large part of this session was consumed with petty gossip, and the referee apologizing for feeling unfocused and low-energy. Like…he just kept doing it, and it was like “Look, we get it, you’re apologizing as a way of filling time because you don’t feel capable of doing your damn job. Stop making it our problem.” and the referee was bad and wrong and he knew he was bad and wrong and he just really appreciates that his players are great people who understand that sometimes he’s going to have a bad session and oh fuck am I seriously going to put all of this into the recap?

Anyway, the party faced off against the super badass high level guards: a level 12 fighter, four level 6 fighters, a level 4 cleric and a level 4 magic user. The party managed to moderately surprise their foes by suddenly breaking off negotiations (apparently the bad guys thought the party would capitulate). They managed to get a few good licks in with grenades, but were dismayed by a strange shimmering force which seemed to protect against the full force of any non-magical damage.

The two parties traded blows back and forth, with the party trying to focus their attention on the two casters. The cleric managed to Turn Questoria, who cowered in response and tackled the gobbos in an attempt to ingratiate herself to the cleric. The Magic User, meanwhile, cast a spell on Losco which implanted the idea in his mind that women should never fight. Losco then threw himself in front of the ladies in the party, insisting they return to Trumpquatia to cook and clean and sew. Stupid sexist wizard.

Despite these setbacks, the party gradually chipped away at their foe’s resources. After a lucky spell managed to slip through the Cleric’s defenses and kill him, the wizard (just hired muscle himself) tried to flee back into the elevator, where he failed to enter the passcode correctly, and activated a series of flamethrowers which incinerated him.

From there, it was mostly a mopping up operation for the party. For sure, the fighters were ferocious, and managed to keep the party on their toes, but once the leader went down surviving three surrendered, and allowed the party to leave (after being forced to turn out their pockets and hand over their shoes).

The party’s shanghai’d guard then led them back out the way they came, past various traps, with all the freed slaves in tow. Most dispersed as soon as they made it outside, but 15 of the escaped slaves had nowhere else to go, and were happy to accept an invitation to live in Trumpquatia. After the party returned the baby Lamataur to its parents, the party turned back to Trumpquatia to regroup.

On the way, the party passed a couple Dukes of the Dome citizens tearing the plates off of a robot named Stebben. Losco told them to stop by the authority of Orlon Silverhair, but they did not recognize his authority (his territory was quite far from here). Losco then told them to stop by the authority of the Inanimate Carbon Rod. The man attacked, and Losco trivially killed him.

The robot, Stebben, who seemed to have been involved in a romantic relationship with the other man, sent him away saying he never wanted to see him again. Losco offered to take the robot on as a traveling companion, and the robot agreed.

The party then returned home without further complication, and thus ended July 2519
