NPCs
Zat – Followed Cpatain RayRayRayRay around, and helped him perform various tasks
Eustace Tint (Dykhead) – Was turned in by the party for a reward. Will probably face indentured servitude.
Eek P’Murk – Local sheriff. The party kind of annoyed him, but he will probably forget about them in a couple days.
Kote: Boyfriend of Reggie, former captain of The Bosco. Is deeply upset to learn that his beloved was taken as a slave, and distrustful of the party’s claims that they will do all they can to rescue Reggie.
Oshkappa: The smallest of small time crime bosses. Runs contraband through “The Tavern” space station. The party did work for him, and was paid.
Astin: A customs official who cleared the party to board The Tavern. Is somewhat embarrassed by the fact that they then hurt his boss’s brother, even if the little weasel deserved it.
Bzop Petzy: Operator of The Tavern space station. The party maimed his brother Dave.
Dave Petzy: A scummy lout of a man. Runs Dave’s Dispatch. The party bullied him into repaying his debts to Oshkappa, and into giving them a cut of his business’ profits. The party also cut off two of his fingers.
Kaytlinn: A 19 year old, working at Dave’s Discounts while on break from her education. A savvy young lady. Negotiated with the party to get a pet green rat.
Locations
Oreo-shaped Space Station “The Tavern.” A hub for independent freighter captains, orbiting a green gas giant.
The Bosco
(In future games, I will note the Bosco’s current status here at the end of each session. That’s not relevant yet, because I haven’t given you the Bosco’s Ship Sheet, but I wanted to put it here anyway as a reminder to myself that this is a good idea.
I will note, however, that you guys did not repair the Bosco at all. It is still at 0hp)
Haven Turn
RayRayRayRayRay – Assists Magnus Robot Fighter
Magnus Robot Fighter – Managed to rig up a simple weapon for the ship. It’s not much, just a very basic dual laser cannon, but it’ll do the job.
Dr. Trevor Science – Researches the spell “Control Beams”
Sasha Rey – Scours the ship for clothing, putting together a suitable wardrobe for the party to share in, so that they don’t look ridiculous walking around in space suits everywhere they go.
Tin Man – Reviews his language subroutines again, granting a +1 to the use of this ability on future tasks.
Gown – Researches the spell “Beam Control”
Swigmar – ???
Jupiter Jones – ???
New Spells
Gown – “Control Beams”
This spell can be cast stealthily. When cast on a light-emitting weapon, it allows the caster to choose the target of any attacks made with that weapon, for a number of attacks equal to the caster’s level.
1. All attacks are made at the caster.
2. The weapon immediately fires the total number of times, and the caster must immediately name the targets.
3. A ceiling beam falls onto the caster. Even if they’re outside.
4. Instead, the next shot from the weapon is +X to hit, where X is equal to the caster’s level.
Dr. Trevor Science – “Beam Control”
Cast on an spherical area within the caster’s line of sight, which must contain the caster. Radius is 10′ for every caster level. Any electronic communication in-or-out of this sphere must be mentally approved by the caster before they are able to function. This does NOT allow the caster to identify their contents. All the caster knows is whether the signal is coming or going, and where inside the sphere it is ‘connected’ to.
Fail:
1. Spell works as normal, but no electronic communication works at all.
2. Instead, the sphere is filled with a loud electronic static sound that drowns out other noise.
3. The spell creates an EMP effect, shutting down all electronics within the sphere.
4.The caster summons a sphere of water, which holds its shape for only a moment before splashing to the ground.
Recap
The party dropped out of hyperspace above a large green gas giant planet, around which orbited a space station with a number of docked ships, including an Interstellar Monestary.
As the party was scanning the various transponders in the system, they were hailed by the station (“The Tavern”). The voice on the other end recognized the Bosco, and expressed surprise that it was back so soon. The party explained that the ship had been attacked by pirates, and that they represented the whole of the surviving passengers and crew.
The Bosco was allowed to dock, and after a brief inspection, and a short encounter with the previous captain’s boyfriend, the party were able to move freely about the station.
They first visited the local constabulary, where they met Sheriff Eek P’Murk, an incredibly obese man with a collection of buxom anime figurines on his desk. The party turned in their captive pirate (who finally revealed his real name), and received a voucher for 500 darics.
Second, they hit up “Dave’s Dispatch,” a kiosk where freighter jocks could find work. They wanted to know if they could sell the potatoes on the station, but she pointed out that the potatoes had been picked up FROM this station a few days prior, and that they were on their way to Aurilis 3, where they’d bring in 2000 Darics on delivery. The young woman at the counter was helpful, but what the party really needed was work on the station, so they could afford repairs. She couldn’t offer anything like that, but–in exchange for one of the party’s green pet rats–she told them that a guy named Oshkappa down at Sal’s Spaghetti usually had station-based work. But it wasn’t the kind of stuff she was allowed to put in her database.
The party thanked her, and went off to the Spaghetti place. They met with Oshkappa, and learned that he wanted them to make an example of Dave –owner of Dave’s Dispatch. Apparently he was deep in debt and very behind on payments, and Oshkappa wanted him to suffer an accident. But it had to be subtle, because the station manager–Bzop–was Dave’s brother.
The party divided into two groups. RayRayRay, Zat, and Dr. Trevor Science went out to find a computer console in a warehouse section filled with datapad screens. Dr. Science set the atmosphere for hacking my messing with the atmo controls to fill the room with mist, and by playing some rockin’ synth music.
RayRayRay hacked the systems real good: he discovered that Dave didn’t have much money, and his assets boiled down to his kiosk, his home, and a very small ship. The party bought a burner phone, and RayRayRay hacked a new Authorized ID into the station security for Dave’s ship. One “Abraham Lincoln.”
The rest of the party, using this identification, went to Dave’s ship to wait for him. Gown made a call to Dave (who referred to himself as “Tha Big D” and referred to his ship as “The Pussy Wagon.). Gown said he’d seen some folks messing with Dave’s ship, and Dave better come check it out.
He did, and followed Gown onto his ship, where Sasha was laying on the bed in a seductive posture. Dave was enthusiastic about getting laid until the party shut the door behind him, and Tin Man shot him in the leg.
The party spent a few minutes “working” on him, and eventually convinced him to do the right thing. They called Oshkappa, handed Dave the phone, and made sure he outlined the deal clearly: He was going to empty out his accounts, sell his ship, hand over 5% of his businesses’ profits, and Dave’s Dispatch would begin offering Oshkappa’s less-than-legal work to people.
The party then stayed around long enough to make sure Dave followed through, cut off two of his fingers (at Oshkappa’s order), and collected their payment for a job well done.
Oshkappa warned them that, despite their effectiveness, their handling of the business had been sloppy enough that they should probably get off the station. The party agreed with his assessment, loaded themselves onto The Bosco, and set out for Aurilis 3.
