Highlights Recap
As the party continued on their way, they discovered a sinkhole and tracks leading down into a tunnel. They decided to take this little detour, and eventually encountered a group of dog-men. They stood upright, wore nice clothes, and spoke in a dialect so posh it was nearly incomprehensible. After feeling one another out (a proverbial ‘sniffing of the butts’ you might say), the dogmen agreed to lead the party to their home.
A few miles further down the tunnel the party entered the dogmen’s underground sanctum, and were introduced to the canine high council. A body of barking bickerers who were arguing about some kind of refugee crisis. The party inquired, and learned that the dogmen were currently playing host to a race of slime-excreting humanoids named the Glurns. The Glurns used to live in a subterranean cavern and trade with the Dogmen, but were driven from their homes by “the under men.” (a dogman slurr for a race known as the Finnaw).
The party suggested that they may be able to help resolve the crisis in exchange for some of cultural artifacts of the dogman race. Particularly the “Smell Novels” of the dogmen were very interesting. The Dogmen agreed, and the party set to work.
They set up an ambush near the exit from the dogmen’s domain into the underworld. After a few hours of playing games on their phones, the Finnaw sent in yet another skirmish party. The combat was brief and one-sided, with the party quickly driving the Finnaw off, and getting their hands on a single captive.
Captive in hand, the party returned all the way to their ship, fighting some ground tentacles along the way which caused them no real trouble. Back in the ship, Gown set about working in his lab, whilst Dr. Trevor Science and Agamony interrogated their captive.
The two discovered that the Finnaw’s government and culture was similar to the Glurn, that they were completely hatefully genocidal towards the glurn, and that this hate had only really been going on for a few months. Meanwhile, Gown managed to use the captives blood samples to concoct a genetic disease that would wipe out the Finnaw if they could be infected.
Dr. Trevor Science managed to get some phone numbers out of their captive, and eventually got in contact with someone who could arrange a meeting with the Finnaw Ruling Council. He explained that he was interested in examining their cultural artifacts for an article he was writing, and asked if they could meet. The Finnaw person happily agreed, and gushed a bit about their beautiful anti-Glurn artistic movement that had been so popular recently.
They gave the party instructions on how to reach the Finnaw capitol, which the party then followed with their captive in tow. They traveled north through the dome, down into a building, and through a busted up wall into a natural blue cavern beneath the earth.
As they moved through the cavern, they were ambushed by a group of three giant frog-like creatures with tentacles growing from their face. The creatures surrounded the party, and rolled a 6 on their initiative, allowing them 2 full surprise rounds before the party can respond.
The session ended In Media Res at the start of this combat.
