Duke Dayvos was pretty disillusioned with the party after their failure to take out his foes, and the party determined that they may as well take another shot at it. This time they’d gather more intelligence to avoid any fuckups.
The first half of the session was spent determining where the Duke and all his sons were, what their patterns were, and trying to figure out when the best time to hit them all at once would be. The obvious choice would be the funeral for the one son the party had succeeded in killing last time. They managed to get a pretty good idea of what the ceremony would look like. Everyone would be pretty spread out for the most part except for near the end when the whole family lifted their dead kin into a church.
The party acquired some high explosives, and headed down into the sewers. There were a lot of guards down there on overlapping patrols, regularly checking in with one another and with comrades above. The party made up some lie about going the wrong direction and barely managed to avoid being detained.
Lacking any better plan, they decided to wait until the last moment, then just try to kill the guards as quick as possible. Remarkably, this worked. They put the bomb in place and set it off when they’d reached a safe distance. They botched the placement of the bomb, but fortuantely for them it was significant overkill for demolishing this church. Their targets all died, as did a lot of innocent bystanders nearby.
Dayvos wasn’t super impressed or happy about it, but it did give him some political leverage he’d previously lacked. The party counted it as a win.
