A seccond attempt to free the fellow from the wall was more successful, and once free, he didn’t talk slow at all. He actually spoke much too quickly, and had to try hard to slow himself down. His limited understanding of the world made communicating a little difficult, but the party deduced that he was an ancient Egyptian named Ramases (not THE ramases) who had at some point “pissed off God.” (singular) and been imprisoned for all time. Jeb opened a portal to take him and the rest of the party up to the space station where he could be quarantined, and they could be examined. He had indeed been carrying several long eradicated diseases, and the party were fortunate to get themselves assessed and innoculated before those diseases were able to take hold.
The party had been out of contact for awhile, and The Hangman was eager to have a meeting with them. They learned two important events were going on:
1. ProphecyBot had gained enough influence that the Technotopians are in the midst of a purge. Somehow Sheniquea became involved, and is currently sitting on Technotopia’s Death Row.
2. ASCII, working as a spy for the party, managed to collect some information on Mr. Burns, but appears to have been captured by him.
The party attempted to hack ASCII’s phone, but failed. Fortunately the Hangman is the primary tech for the phone network. Obviously it had to be sufficiently secure that the other Internet Council Members felt safe using it though, so the best she can do is identify the last message first pinged off relays located in current Lords of Light territory. The party got in contact with the Lords of Light, and in exchange for smoothing over some issues they were having in their negotiations with the Outsiders, they were given permission to investigate.
Their investigation reveals that there is a strange cover story about an early bloomer girl setting off fireworks and being taken to detention, but no one in the detention system actually has her. It seems that one “Lord Whylac” may have taken her, and created a cover story.
The party approach Lord Whylac’s tower, a 30 story building, well guarded. Conversing with The Hangman, they learn that Mr. Burns primary magics involve manipulating people’s minds–especially their memories. He also enjoys setting things on fire, though Hangman doesn’t recall him using magic to do so.
