Following up on the events of session 147: Belee was briefly halted by a pair of skeletons, but fortunately they still obeyed the pass word “Dummy Coming Through” which Carl had been given when he was Sugud’s apprentice. Once Belee was in, they were able to show the location to Jeb via FaceTime, and the rest of the party steped through a portal into the lair of the wizard Sugud. They moved into a large warehosue space where many animated constructs–balsa wood marionettes and skeletons–were moving around boxes, all avoiding a large red square on the floor. Facing the party across the room as they entered was the wizard Sugud himself, who angrily demanded to know who the party were, and how they’d gotten in. Some attempt at deceptive diplomacy was made, but Carl announced himself pretty publicly, and Belee resorted to squirting sriracha, and combat was begun.
The many constructs in the room proved to be the biggest threat, throwing themseelves into grapples and attempting to hurl party members into the red square, a space where some intense force sent objects flying up to a chute in the ceiling. Sugud himself was only able to get off a single impotent magic attack before a well placed sneak attack from Jeb killed him. The constructs did not stop attacking, however, and the fight was a near thing. The battle was aided greatly by Carl casting a “slow” spell that affected all the constructs. The party chipped away at their numbers, but just as victory seemed to be assured the constructs shoved Belee into the red square space, and sent him hurtling to his supposed doom. Carl attempted to slow his comrade’s fall, but a critical fail only slowed Belee’s perception of his fall. Fortunately, this enabled Belee to hold out his 10′ pole, and grip it for dear life to prevent himself from being pulled up into the chute.
The session ended with belee’s body being buffetted by mysterious force pushes, all trying to force him to come un-lodged.
