While pulling Belee down from his perilous situation, two new foes charged into the room and attacked. Giant skeletons, apparently created to activate and take revenge if Sugud was defeated. They gave the party a good scare, but Jeb managed to pull Belee out of danger, Washington Crusher kept one pinned with his mighty Turning ability, and Jinny Beau climbed up inside one to great effect. Carl was also there, and threw a chicken nugget. Even when the skeletons’ heads exploded like bombs, the party managed to avoid any serious injury.
On Sugud’s body the party discovered his pet snake, Delta, which Belee killed and carried with him as a trophy. (Along with Sugud’s actual corpse). Hoping to quickly find and release his fellow experiments, Belee led the party through leaky corridors. The party was briefly accosted by a young person with a fake beard strapped to their chin (Carl’s replacement as Sugud’s apprentice.) Quick action allowed the party to pin the young magic user. They conversed, and once Belee was satisfied that this apprentice was not significantly responsible for any evil done to the experimental subjects, they were allowed not only to live, but to join the party as Carl’s apprentice.
In the following room the party encountered a magic circle with a free standing archway in it. The circle was aligned for the production of animated creatures.
Finally the party reached a room filled with cages where Belee had spent long years as the subject of horrible experiments. He announced to his fellows that they would be free, and they rattled their cages in apprecation. This noise should almost certainly prompt an encounter check at the start of next session.
